Landscape Turf Installation Guide
A complete, step‑by‑step guide to installing artificial grass for lawns, backyards, front yards, rooftops, and patios — including base prep, grading, turf layout, seams, edging, and finishing.
A proper landscape turf installation is built around drainage, stability, and long‑term durability. Your NO‑INFILL turf system simplifies maintenance and eliminates loose materials — ideal for residential and commercial landscapes.
1. Site Preparation
Remove existing grass or surface
Strip away natural grass, weeds, soil, or old materials. Excavate 3–4 inches to prepare for the new base.
Rough grading
Shape the area to promote drainage away from structures. A gentle slope (1–2%) is ideal.
2. Base Construction
The base determines drainage, stability, and long‑term performance.
Add crushed stone base
Use ¾” clear stone or similar free‑draining aggregate. Spread in layers and compact thoroughly.
Final grading & compaction
Compact the base using a plate compactor until it is firm and level. Ensure water flows away from the home.
3. Weed Barrier (Optional)
Install a high‑quality geotextile fabric to prevent weed growth while allowing water to pass through.
4. Turf Layout
Roll out the turf
Allow the turf to relax for 30–60 minutes so fibres stand upright and backing settles.
Align grain direction
Ensure all pieces run in the same direction for a consistent appearance.
5. Seam Joining
Strong seams are essential for a clean, natural‑looking lawn.
Apply seam tape & adhesive
Use high‑quality turf adhesive and seam tape. Press turf edges firmly into the adhesive.
Blend fibres
Brush fibres at the seam to blend the join and create a natural look.
6. Perimeter Securing
Secure edges to prevent lifting and maintain a clean finish.
- Use landscape spikes every 4–6 inches
- Install edging or lumber for clean transitions
- Ensure no loose edges remain
7. NO‑INFILL Advantage
Your landscape turf system is engineered to perform without infill — a major advantage over traditional turf.
- No rubber or silica infill
- No infill migration or mess
- No top‑ups or grooming
- Cleaner, safer, low‑maintenance lawns
- Consistent appearance for 20–30 years
8. Final Grooming
Brush the turf fibres upright using a power broom or stiff‑bristle broom. This ensures a natural look and optimal drainage.
